Chartered Builder and Quantity Surveyor
Ben founded BPH in 2020 to make experienced commercial advice available to the people who need clear answers and dependable support, without having to carry a permanent senior hire to get it.
He started out as a carpenter, then moved through site management, estimating and quantity surveying into commercial leadership. That route matters more than the qualifications after his name. It means drawings are read with an understanding of how the work will actually be built, prices are tested against delivery rather than assumed, and problems tend to get spotted while they are still cheap to fix.
His experience spans high-end homes, listed buildings and complex construction projects, working on both sides of the table. That has included leading the commercial function on a super-prime residential estate of £35m and above, recovering commercial control on a £20m+ luxury residential development, acting as lead cost consultant on a £12m listed conversion, and taking a new-build scheme on a rural estate through as project manager, principal quantity surveyor and contract administrator.
The consultancy brings the same focus to a defined piece of advice as it does to an ongoing appointment: understand the problem, establish the facts, and help the client make a sound decision.
We work across JCT, NEC and bespoke contract forms, client-side and contractor-side. That range is why the advice tends to anticipate where a project will come under pressure, rather than only where the contract says it should.
Based in Epsom, Surrey, working across London and the South of England, including Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire. Sectors run from super-prime residential and heritage through to commercial fit-out, education, healthcare and public-sector work.
